My posts and archive are free with the option to pay if a reader generously wants to support my Substack. They get no more than does a free subscriber. Could you expand a little on what thought process led you to opt out of Paid and go back to that? Will you be adding the paid option button?
Hi Julia, I’ve gone for exactly what you’re doing. As I explain in my post the paid option was stressing me and I didn’t want to paywall content. But I’ve had to prioritise paid work and my writing here has suffered as a result. Hence the return with a new approach. Hope that helps
Very nice idea the way you are managing your Substack. I have an air fryer, all I seem to do in it is cook beans at high pressure, so speedy. I only use it if there are two of us which is almost never, as you say it’s a bit small. I shall listen out for you on TKC, love it but missed it today
Ahh thank you! I bought the 6 person cooker but finding it quite useful so far. Crisped some onions today 😅. Not sure when my episode is out, I better check
Wise words about free/pay to view posts, thank you. I have an all singing all dancing multi cooker, bought on sale as an upgrade from my pressure cooker. I've only used the air fryer mode a few times, but I suspect that I'll use it more as I get to understand what it can do. My model also has multi functions including steam/air crisp etc which slightly scares me.
I think we might have the same one! I started experimenting with it and have been very impressed with the result so far. I really want to make "fried" chicken in it. Thanks for the kind words on the new model. We'll soon find out if anyone chooses to pay...
I have an Instant Pot with an air fryer lid. I use the Instant Pot to cook beans and lentils all the time and right now it's just finished pressure cooking some soup stock so I can use it for my lunch today. I'm glad I have the dehydration option but I've never tried it. I use it as an air fryer less and less. One of the first things I did after buying this flat was to replace the oven with a more energy efficient oven with a steam function to bake bread. I have found it easier to switch the oven on than to get the Instant Pot and air fryer lid out of the cupboard and clean the air fryer pot and main pot after use (far easier to clean an oven tray).
This is the same as the one I’ve got! I don’t want to name a brand and this is more of a PSA and not a paid post. Great tip on the steam oven too, thanks so much for sharing
Also I have the one with the extra air fryer lid - I think there's an all-in-one lid option now. I do get annoyed at how much storage space it takes up. But a separate air fryer would take even more!
That's great to know! I covered some important topics like what cultural appropriation is and isn't in the early days so I'd rather keep them free and accessible to all.
I so agree w Malika, I am actually on my second unit. The first lives at my FIL’s for Xmas and family meals. The newer one has pride of place on the countertop. Regularly does roast potatoes and chips; spag bol and curries using the pressure cooker. In fact I bought the thing for the pressure cooker but it’s all the other actions I love it for. Only crank up the oven for large pizzas these days.
well, i m one of the few dinosaurs to cook in pots / oven … so very enlightening to see how you approach the idea!
I am still very much dinosaur Lina! Trying to wrap my head around all this now 😅
shall we start a tribe together? would be very glad to connect with you!
Thank you so much for such an enlightened and generous offer. 🙏
You make me feel so hungry showing the pictures of the food from the International. Doesn’t matter that I’m not eating meat, stuff looked so tasty!
It was so tasty! And we had a few veg options on the table including the paneer pictured 😊
Very interesting, Mallika, as I've been mulling for a while now changing up how I roll on substack and have been considering just this approach x
I’m not sure if it will work Angela but feels like the right approach!
I have one, given as a gift 3 yrs ago and still in the box, though I use my oven very often.
Ahh I would take it out of the box and have a play! Quite enjoying it here

Crisping onions is a fine idea, thanks, I can see that working for more than two!

It probably costs me more to use the oven! But I don't switch it on often enough for me to notice it in my bills

Mine is a Ninja Foodi btw. Same issue with the lid, but it means I can now lose one old, battered pressure cooker!
Another substack model I’ve seen is free posts, but all post over a year old only available to subscribers.

Hi Mallika! I've got a multi gadget one and I love it. The pressure cooker has been a revelation. I'm still experimenting.....
